Help! Logo Roughs Nazar

Hey folks -

After researching the process of PrePress Proofing systems, I realized it is a highly important step in the printing process. This is the step between designer and printer. The clients final approval before potential hundreds of them are printed on a press, so this is critical.

While this is highly important, it is one of many services designers and printers go through in the process. It really can't stand alone as an independent company that only provides proofs. So I wanted to incorporate this topic as a major service to a service bureau, the service bureau is my client.

OffPress is another name for Prepress. I love having a registration mark within the O in OFF press.
Blueline is a general term for proofs, but it more accurately has to do with image proofs. The 2 Ls in the name are extended to create a page width.

I do not know which to choose.

  1. I really like both your logos, but specifically the "off press". The registration marks are a really great and clever idea. I like the weight of the first typeface but I think the second typeface works best—maybe mix and match? I also really like the "press" inside the registration but it feels very flimsy and gets easily lost, especially if it'll be scaled, so maybe add some weight to it to make it stand out?

"Blueline" looks great, I think the most successful one is the first version—what typeface is it?

    1. Hey!
Thank you, I'll try some additional typefaces for the OffPress logo, and different weights.

The first Blueline logo is "Maven Pro" - great typeface.

  2. Great ideas Dan!

I like the off press logos and general idea more.
My favorite one is the 2nd off press logo.
    Have you considered any color?

  3. Dan – OFF PRESS is a great name, and although I understand the term blueline (which was a step we approved before seeing the color proof in a lot of cases back in the day), many young designers wouldn’t. So – OFF PRESS is it, in my opinion. Which one? Well – I’m not sure you’ve found the best font yet – so keep looking. But, please don’t place the word “PRESS” inside the “O”… it will limit the usability of this logo at small sizes (and become unreadable).
