Chris Cefole_Brochure Composite_Brief_Final Logo

  1. Chris – good name shift, this is easily pronounceable and clearly connected to the offset litho process itself.

Logo icon – The circular shapes echo the rollers in the process, a great idea. And the curved bold lines that follow that same circle give us the impression of “powerful, intentional, and industrial”. That makes a lot of sense. It is giving the right visual message. However, then there is the font. This script font says “flowing, elegant, and hand-written” which is a very different message. I’m not sure the 2 work well together to communicate a single clear message. It is, instead, a bit confusing. Look at your competition – maybe there is a reason why they have chosen contemporary, sans serif fonts. Even the expressive Coison Art font looks modern, up to date, and creative. So – I encourage you to keep looking for the right font for your company.

And, just for the record, if someday you are interested in using a script font – stay clear of this one. The design is inconsistent, poorly kerned, and cramped. Not a good example of this category of typeface design.

The small colorful icons on page 3 are just great, as secondary design elements. I suspect you will have some fun with these. The folding pattern on page 5 is also really promising! I look forward to seeing how your will mix your message with the colorful panels on this “L.”

  2. Hey Chris!
I agree with Coni on your typeface choice. I feel that if you scale the logo to a smaller size, you’ll lose readability. I like the weight of it, but I think a san serif typeface will be more successful in representing your brand.

The circle icons are very sweet and they look great with the pop of colour and it’s a great idea using them as design elements to encase the page numbers.

I’m not sure if I understand your brochure fully—will it be triangle shapes pages linked together into the L shape, or is the L shape the cover mockup?

  3. I really enjoy your logo. Its so simple yet effective. I also enjoy the typeface you chose, its a very clean script, and where you have simplicity in the logo the typeface makes up for being decorative. I understand your method behind making your brochure the shape of an L, but I'm not sure how I feel from the complete shape shift from circles to triangles. Great job though! Keep up the good work!
