Hello! I've updated my logo thanks to everyone's feedback last week and wanted to run it by again to see how it is received.
The main changes were:
• Slight colour change; removed some red (it looked a bit purple-ey)
• Shortened the umbrella holder since it looked a bit like a J
• Removed and repositioned some raindrops inside the umbrella
• Added an alternative logo (1st photo) that would work as a scaleable logo/iconic stamp (the 2nd logo would work as signage (storefront awning, A-frame, billboard)
I'll upload some brand identity mockups (business cards, etc.) once I get more feedback.
Thanks! :)

Hey Tan,
ReplyDeleteI love that you've made an alternate logo for scalability, really seems like you're thinking ahead. The color is great and in my opinion a very corporate color. This shows your company is strong and can manage large scale clients but the icon is friendly enough that it's approachable to a more average customer. The only thing I can say is at fault is the kerning in the second designs word "letterpress" the two T-s look a little too close together and could as a result lose some readability. All in all great job though!

Tania – Your logo refinements are well done, you have addressed the issues we mentioned and used the brief feedback you received wisely. The solution for the raindrops is quite perfect.
ReplyDeleteYou mention that your intention is to use both of these designs within the same campaign. As I look at both designs next to each other, however, I question whether they could both be used in the visual brand of your company… they are really quite different. Does the idea of consistency preclude you from using both?
In my opinion, the top design is bold, fresh, makes a memorable statement and contains typography that is readable at all sizes… including outdoor signage. The bottom design is more fragile, a bit dainty, and clearly would have readability issues when reduced for letterheads, etc. So… depending on your perceived needs (and your audience) you may need to continue working on the bottom design to address these issues… or decide to use the top design across the whole campaign.
But again – I’m interested in what others think about this. It is a discussion worth having – “Can a campaign contain variations on a logo, or must it stick to using one iterations only?” Please leave your comments!
Hey Tania,
ReplyDeleteYour top logo refinement is awesome! There are a lot of points that David and Coni mentioned that I also agree with as well.
The color choice is bold and catches your eye. Davids right, the color shows that your company is strong and can manage large scale clients while being clean cut and playful at the same time.
I think your top logo is strong enough that you would not even need the second one for signage and what not. The filled in circle compliments the umbrella really well by creating almost a stencil effect (or stamp). It's readability and simplicity add so much value to the over all logo. You have created something that some one looking for this type of service will remember and can actually picture being used as a letter press itself and I think that proves a job well done! Excited to see the continuation of your design brief :)
Hey Tania,
ReplyDeleteI really like the changes you made to the logo. I think the only reason the handle of the umbrella reads as a "J" is because it is not connected to the top part. I think the type choice is perfect and the design is overall clean. Can't wait to see how everything turns out!
Best,
